Visiting the Collections
Our research space is available for anyone wanting to view records in person. In some cases, we will request a visit, such as if documents contain sensitive data and cannot be reproduced or distributed.
Please note: visits are strictly by appointment only.
Anyone wishing to visit can do so via the Contact Us link above. You will be prompted to fill out our online enquiry form. Alternatively, you can call us on 020 8863 6720. Our team will provide available dates to book for your visit.
Researchers can either request specific material or ask for records pertaining to a certain subject, time period, or place. We will do our best to find the best resources for you from the collections.
Terms and Conditions
All researchers are required to fill out a registration form as well as provide a form of ID when they first visit.
While there is no fee for viewing records, visitors wishing to take photographs must pay a £5 fee for the day. Where records contain sensitive data photography is strictly prohibited.
Fees also apply if visitors would like copies of documents or access to our microfiche system. The museum will provide a full list of fees prior to your visit.
Tours
For tours of the collections and archives, we currently hold tours during Heritage Open Days, a nationwide initiative to show members of the public the behind-the-scenes of museums. Heritage Open Days happens annually in September. More details and how to book can be found via:
